Holy T-Rexes.
It is gorgeous. Sleek black rubber all over the top, with shiny, black piano-finish plastic on the left, right, and bottom.
I really liked how the cable was in a rope-like material, so it would bunch up or coil up like regular cables. And, like the Copperhead, the USB head is gold-plated.

The mouse is light but very solid.

The box packs a chokeload of content. THREE Razer manuals, TWO Razer logo stickers, a certificate of authenticity, a Razer product catalog, and (get this) a Razer COASTER. hahaa

When plugged in, the Razer logo glows its ridiculously awesome blue. The light pulses on and off, like a really slow heartbeat. The other light comes from both sides of the scroll wheel.

Gorgeous.

My Review

Incredibly comfortable. It fits perfectly in my hand. The 3.5G Laser sensor is pin-point precise.
max DPi is 5600, but I set mine at 4800dpi. Polling rate is set at 1000MHz, of course.
(Just so you know: It is always better to set your dpi high then tune it down in Windows settings. This gives better accuracy and precision. Meaning 4800dpi@low windows speed settings will be better than 1200dpi@high windows settings.)

Razer™ Ultraslick™ Teflon® at the bottom makes the mouse glide smoothly AND precisely, with no unwanted motion when you hold it.

Buttons are awesome to click. The thumb buttons are very convenient.
Also, the thumb buttons are adjustable to suit your hand position.
Both claw-grip and palm-grip users will love the mouse. Reviews online say that it is a definite improvement over the Deathadder, which was already so comfortable.

One complaint I have is that there was no driver cd with the mouse. You have to go to the Razer site and download the driver manually. However, one advantage is that you will have the latest version that is compatible with whatever version of windows you are using. Previously, most driver cds that came with my gaming mouse were outdated drivers anyway.

That being said, the download process this time was quick and painless.

The Imperator Driver

The Imperator driver had tons of customizable options, each of the 7 button can be programmed, including macros which allowed multiple actions to be implemented with one click. DPi settings and X-Y axis customization is also available. You can allocate up to 4 different DPi settings to be saved. Then, by clicking the DPi buttons on your mouse, you can cycle through the 4 levels of sensitivity without having to manually change them again through the interface.

I played Sudden Attack and Crysis for about 2 weeks.
FPS gaming shows an immediate 40% increase in frags. It has never been easier to headshot.
And RTS gaming. With Starcraft 2 (beta), micromanaging was very easy, although I had to lower the in-game sensitivity settings to prevent my mouse from flying all over and moving the map. Similar results with DoW2.

Summary

Pros: Incredibly Comfortable; Pretty packaging; Nice clickable buttons; Accurate and precise; Smooth; pretty much everthing you want from a Gaming mouse
Cons: RM290 may be steep for non-serious gamers; Driver has to be manually downloaded; only for right-handed humans.

A very enjoyable experience.
In conclusion, RM290 might seem alot. But I assure you..

It’s worth every cent.

Borderlands

First game on the new PC.

“Think Diablo, but FPS.”
I got this game via recommendation.

What it is
Borderlands is an action/adventure FPS-RPG. A hybrid of genres, so to speak.

First Impressions
Cartoonish. But in a good way. The game is beautifully designed to have a hand-drawn feel throughout.
Everything has that hand-drawn black border around them.
It feels like you’re playing a character inside a Marvel comic.

The opening cinematics sets the rythmn and feel of the game, giving you an idea of what’s coming up ahead.
I immediately related Borderlands to three things: Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds, and Crazy Taxi.
You will imagine that it was developed by the same people who made the movie. It’s THAT similar.

Story
The setting is a chaotic world called Pandora. The goal of the game is to access the contents of a vault carved into the side of the mountain. The contents are said to contain alien technology and secrets.
All sorts of people are trying to hunt it.
They are….vault-hunters.
You get to be one of them.

Gameplay
To start things off, you now get to choose a class.
There are 4 different classes.

Each character has its own skill tree, weapon specialty, and special ability.
The game starts with a short tutorial, only because controls are pretty straightforward.

You get off a bus and start your journey as a vault-hunter. A mysterious lady appears on your HUD and proceeds to guide you throughout the game. Your objective is simple: Find quests, kill enemies (or collect items), get better weapons (and shields), and level up.
Go to new area, repeat.

Think Diablo, but in FPS.

There are tons of quests for you to do, each offering XP and good cash. You can use the cash at shops to upgrade your gear, but I found that most of the better gear were found as loot from enemies.

The items remind me of WoW and Diablo.
Regular items are white in colour, but special items have their name in green, blue, and purple. These items have enhanced attributes (damage, reload speeds, recoil, extra ammo, elemental damange, etc.)

Honestly, though. The game can get a little repetitive.
Some special side quests, and the unending choices of weaponry rescued it, making it pretty fun to play.

Game response and interface are simple yet pretty; Graphics are gory and awesome, and the landscape of Pandora is beautiful. Eye candy eye candy eye candy. Gun designs can get wacky, and all your enemies die in such lovely manner.

Downsides
The game is pretty easy. The AI is programmed to just rush at you and fire. They don’t hide, dodge, or do anything that makes them seem anything but a scripted bot. Their actions are thoroughly predictable. Even boss fights were a walk in the park. Find a nice spot, camp and shoot. A trick is to get them lodged (stuck) behind a pole of somesort, and fire at them without taking any damage.

Summary
Point and shoot. Fun to play if you are into the whole levelling up and gear-collecting. (which i am)

Pros
Nice graphics. Tried and true gameplay. Simple and straightforward. Impressive array of gear. Interesting.

Cons
Can get repetitive. Predictable AI.
