I was playing basketball yesterday and the person guarding me accidentally clawed my eye.
We were both trying to get a rebound (i got the ball) and he swung his arm on the way down and scratched my right eye.
It hurt, but the pain went away after a while.
Problem is, when i was in the bathroom taking a shower, i looked in the mirror and saw that i had a thin maroon cut right along the bottom of my eyelid.
And it now looks like i have some eyeliner on one eye.
End of Magic Act
The LA Lakers defeat the Orlando Magic in 5 games to claim their 15th NBA title. It is also Head Coach Phil Jackson’s 10th NBA title (an NBA record) and Kobe Bryant’s 4th.
Kobe also received the Bill Russell Trophy after being named 2009 Finals MVP.
(edit: if you ask me, Kobe’s performance this year is the definition of ’stepping up.’ his stats? 32.4 points per game for this final series. WTF inhuman.)
Hedo Turkoglu driving past 2008 Finals MVP Paul Pierce
Magic make Celtics disappear from Playoffs The Orlando Magic defeated 2008 NBA champions the Boston Celtics to earn themselves place in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the decisive game 7 at Boston, Hedo Turkoglu was the top scorer, with the away team beating the Celtics 101 to 82. Dwight Howard was a monster at the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds and blocking 5 shots.
On to Cleveland The Magic now find themselves against LeBron and the Cavaliers, who had swept their last two series and have been waiting for an opponent since last Monday. The Cavs are unbeaten in this year’s playoffs.
Injury plagued
Undermanned because The Great Wall was out with a broken foot, the Rockets did considerably well as they dragged the series to a seventh game.
But Lakers had home court advantage.
So, the LA Lakers win the deciding game 7 against the Houston Rockets to make 2009 Western Conference Finals.
They now face Melo, Billups, and the rest of the Denver nuggets.
What’s next
I personally would enjoy a Final with the Kobe and the Lakers matched up against LeBron and the Cavs.
My friend Philip fell down and dislocated his elbow yesterday.
Philip in happier times
It was labour day and CCC (Calvary Charismatic Centre) held their 2nd Mini-Olympics competition.
A gang of us had a team representing his church.
We got 3rd place, after winning three games and losing one.
Things got pretty violent from the beginning. LOTS of body contact, body checks, elbows and knees being thrust like a bad dance movie.
Anyway, back to Philip.
He got tripped midway the first game and landed badly on his arm. His elbow popped out of its socket and he was (i could only imagine) in excruciating pain. He started yelling about and a whole bunch of people could only stand around and watch. I tried to get some first aid BUT couldnt find anyone and in the end the first aid people who arrived were very slow to do anything.
After awhile they managed to put Philip’s arm in a makeshift cast and carry him to this guy’s car and he drove them there.
At the hospital the doctors gave him some morphine and popped his elbow back.
damn, he got to get high.
Philip’s actually on a short trip back from Australia, and was supposed to go back to Perth tomorrow.
Looks like that’s gonna be delayed.
Hope he has a speedy recovery.
I’m really quite sure he still wants to play ball in the future.
At least we got third place, in honor of him.
Pity only 1st and 2nd place got trophies/medals.
