i nearly stabbed myself in the eye today while putting on my contact lens.
anyway.
On a totally unrelated note:
I was reading my July issue of Readers’ Digest and found two interesting articles to share with you:
1. Apollo 11
40 years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first men on the moon. July 1969, Commander Neil Armstrong bounced onto the moon, the first moon-walk, and grunted the iconic line, “That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Readers’ Digest had a full writeup on how everything happened, and honestly, the article was incredibly moving - depicting the amount of pressure and responsibility those men had - The entire planet earth’s expectations and hopes weighing on their shoulders. The feeling of excitement, and at the same time, utter dread as the shuttle launched while they were strapped and sealed to it.
Billions of people praying as they watched the spaceship burst off the ground; whispering ‘go!’ as tears streamed down their face.
The article briefly summarizes the mission and the success of it. The first step off the landing vehicle was actually more than 3 feet - not such a small step after all.
It’s interesting how landing on the moon turned hardened, trained astronauts into 8 year old boys, jumping around in ecstasy in the zero-gravity.
Neil Armstrong’s words can be heard at http://nasa.gov
2. Total Eclipse
There will be a total eclipse on July the 22nd, 2009. It’s a wednesday.
The moon will be between Earth and the sun, and unlikethe few previous eclipses, (which were partial eclipses) this one will be a TOTAL ECLIPSE.

all that’s missing is the word ‘HEROES’
Certain areas in China and Japan will experience total darkness.
In South-east asia, however, it will only appear to be slightly darkened. We will still be able to see the shadow of the moon covering the sun, and it will only get about as dark as a regular stormy cloudy day.
In Malaysia, the eclipse will be at 8:44am to 9:44am, peaking at 9:11am.
Don’t miss it.
