(you knew there’d be one sooner or later)

lalala
It’s always nice to hang out with old friends, is’t it.
even if it’s just doing anything, talking about something, and laughing about everything.

i don’t think i’ll ever get sick of that.

ever.

i do wonder sometimes.

how old is too old for laughter, for silliness, for me
how old is too old for our high fives, our unadulterated glee
how old is too old for our lame jokes, stupidity so free
how old is too old, old friends, for our laughing spree?

The Hitman post

26 11 2007

I watched Hitman on Thursday, this time at Cathay, City Square, JB.

My rating:
6/10

Hitman
ze poster

it’s surprising really, how the ladies have no idea this movie is based on a game until the words appear on the movie-screen:

Based on the game : Hitman

Ladies: eh? Hitman’s a game?
Guys: …duh. One of the better games, too.
Ladies: *groan* movie’s gonna suck, innit..

it’s also strange how people don’t enjoy good ol gunfights anymore. My friend, a guy (i think), fell asleep on my left even when there were bullets flying and explosions ringing.

Hitman is based on the hit game (no pun intended) with the same name. Agent 47, ze main character, is a trained hitman (duh!) whose objective in life is to perform professional assasinations and ask no questions. When the tables are turned and someone is out to get him (duh! wat plot were u expecting), he needs to figure out who, how, and deal with it.

Just like the game, Agent 47 is bald, has a bar-code at the back of his head, and wields his iconic twin silver berettas.

Hitman: Contracts
Hitman: Contracts (ze game)

The movie is dark and sometimes slow, following the mood of the game. The action scenes and gunfights are quite impressive, though some parts may remind you of certain Matrix scenes.

Timothy Olyphant (i know - LOTR elephants lol) plays Agent 47. You might remember him from The Girl Next Door. He’s ok, but i would have preferred an actor who looked more like 47. He looks nothing like him.

The movie is fairly entertaining, but don’t expect to leave the cinema completely satisfied.

but hey.

What did you expect from a movie directed by Vin xXx Diesel?

The Beowulf Post

22 11 2007

Managed to catch Beowulf yesterday at Jusco Tebrau City, JB.

My rating:
7.2/10

Digital Muscle
interesting cast

i have to say that i’m quite biased because i’m a John Malkovich fan, and with the sly inclusion of ‘and Angelina Jolie’ at the end of the movie poster/trailer, i was craving to watch it.

that being said, however, the movie looked awesome.

The movie is made using digital animation coupled with real-life actors. The actors actually had to wear skin-tight blue suits while acting, and then the computer animation was later constructed over them.

According Ray Winstone, he and his fellow cast spent days filming in the blue skintight suit, “showing up all your lumps and bumps in all the wrong places. Which can be hard when you’re standing in front of Angelina, who looks stunning in hers.” (source)

The movie looked awesome, but the storyline was quite average. Expect stunning battle-scenes though, with the jaw-dropping Beowulf slaying sea-monsters and killing dragons and Grendel, the gollum-lookalike.

The movie effects may seem familar - it’s produced by Robert Zemeckis - the guy who gave us The Polar Express.

i won’t include spoilers.

Watch the movie if you’re into the whole legend, myth, and fantasy genre.

..or if you’re a straight guy.

=)

that’s right, people -
I’m officially a geek.
certified geek.

the past three years has been quite hectic, to say the bloody least.
The assignment rushing, notes copying, terror-inducing labour, all of which were mostly achieved by coffee-fuelled all-nighters.

I won’t deny that some part of it would be missed.

I’ll freely admit a huge part of it won’t.

gahh– farewell lecturers, college mates, deans, cafeteria drinks uncle, and ..old cleaner lady.
oh wait.
doesn’t this mean i fall under the ‘unemployed’ category now?

rats.

Jolene baked the cake for me.

baked it.
heavenly i tell you.
thanks, Jolene.

and so with that,

I’m now officially an adult geek.
i can vote to decide who gets to run the nation, and um…..legally get into zouk.
